Year 3: Stop Motion Videos

The Year 3 children are currently looking at the IPC topic Visual Representations. They have used the computers to create a variety of different types of Digital Art and this week, we used the iPads to create Stop Motion videos.

I remember in my youth, Morph was a brilliant animation to watch on television. Does anyone remember Morph during the children's art series Hart Beat? The creators of Morph went on to create Wallace and Gromit! After showing the children a few episodes of Morph, we talked about Stop Motion animations and how the iPads can be used to create them.

We used the iPad app iMotion to create these videos. iMotion takes photographs at intervals allowing you to take a number of photographs and play them together to create a video. The children chose between using Lego, Plasticine or various toys to feature in their animations.

Here are some of the finished results! The children loved it and bearing in mind this was their first time creating Stop Motion videos, I think you will agree that they did extremely well!
