Year 1: Bee Bots

This week the Year 1 children have been playing with the Bee Bots. I asked a few children if they could tell me what a Bee Bot does and here are some of the answers I was given ...

"They are really clever because they remember everything you told them to do"

"Sometimes they go all wrong and keep going when you want them to stop."

"Bee bots are robots. You use the arrows to move them."

The year 1 children clearly know what a Bee Bot is and how to move it. This week we focused on programming in more than one step to get the Bee Bots to in move more than one direction in one go. They really enjoyed the challenge of the race track mat and preventing the Bee Bots from going over the barriers. We also programmed the Bee Bots to spell our names on the alphabet mat which was a bit unfair on the children with long names!!!!
